Overview A high rate solids/liquid separation process suitable
for primary treatment.
The Swirl-Flo® Process employs the Hydrodynamic Separation
principle to produce a complex, stable controlled flow regime
providing maximum opportunity for flocculation and solids
removal.
The process can be used with or without chemical addition.
Without coagulants and flocculants, the process provides
the performance equivalent of conventional primary sedimentation
in typically a fifth of the ground area, resulting in significant
construction cost savings.
The Swirl-Flo® Separator can be supplied as a freestanding
vessel for low flow rates or as a collection of stainless
steel components to be installed within a concrete shaft
by others in the case of higher flow rates.
Advantages
| • |
Can achieve primary treatment standards in typically 20-25% of the plan
area required by conventional primary sedimentation tanks. |
| • |
More robust than other primary removal devices and readily absorbs shock
loads. |
| • |
Low capital cost due to minimal civils requirements. |
| • |
Low revenue cost due to minimal maintenance and decreased land requirements. |
| • |
Highly modular with rapid start-up. |
| • |
Upgradeable / flexible. |
| • |
Produces a more consistent effluent quality even under higher loading
rates compared to other devices. |
| • |
No moving parts or power requirement in the hydrodynamic units. |
