Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Does the SludgeScreen™ thicken sludge?
A. No. The SludgeScreen™ removes gross solids from a sludge stream.
Q. What is the headloss through the SludgeScreen™?
This is a very complex issue, as the headloss depend on many factors, include sludge type, thickness, screenings content and type, as well as how well adjusted the machine is. Typically a headloss of 2 to 5 m should be expected.
Q. Can the discharged sludge be under pressure?
A. Yes, the unit is capable of working under pressure and therefore the discharge can be higher than the outlet of the unit. We would normal suggest limiting this to around 5 m of static lift.
Q. . What flow rate can the unit handle?
The flow rate depends on a number of factors, but typically the unit will take 50 to 120 m3/h sludge at 6 to 1% dry solids.
Q. What quantity of screenings will I get?
A. The amount of screenings generated depends on the amounts that enter the machine, which is strongly dependent on where the sludge comes from. Activated sludge tends to contain few screenings, whereas imported sludge tend to contain high volumes. Generally the machine will handle up to 1m3 of screening per hour.
Q. How often should the SludgeScreen™ be serviced?
A. The service interval depends on the usage. Generally we advise that the screen should be adjusted on a monthly basis, with a more detailed examination quarterly.
